Richard Beadle, a renowned scholar of Medieval English Literature and Palaeography, especially the drama and its textual transmission, as well as Professor & Fellow in English at St John's College, University of Cambridge, has recently re-edited The York Plays (2 vols., Early English Text Society 2009-13), and The Cambridge Companion to Medieval English Theatre (second edition, 2008). He has also published extensively in other fields including Middle English palaeographical and bibliographical studies, Middle English dialectology, the history of the language, the history of the book, medieval English epistolary writings, Chaucer, Shakespeare, and 17th-century antiquarianism.
